Tough Day For Our Canadians at Twelve Hours At Sebring

IT ALL FELL APART IN THE LAST TWO HOURS FOR ALEGRA MOTORSPORT AND AWA RACING COULD HAVE BEEN IN CONTENTION FOR A PODIUM
It was Corvette’s day at Sebring as the team have run without problems all race long and won the GTD PRO class although with a margin of only four seconds after 12 hours of racing. Second place went to TR3 Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 no. 63 and third, a lap behind was WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 no. 76.
Pfaff Motorsports, although steadily occupying fifth and sixth throughout the race did not seem to have the pace to keep up with the Corvette today. They were classified fifth at the finish.
Racers Edge Motorsports with WTR no. 93 finished the race in eight place with Kyle Marcelli at the wheel. Kyle has kept the fastest lap of the race for the team.
In GTD, we already knew both Heart Of Racing and Wright Motorsport were out of contention early on in the race. Heart of Racing ended the race in 15th place 65 laps behind. Wright Motorsport crossed the line in 10th place 16 laps behind.
Alegra Motorsport who had been very consistent all race long even leading the race at one point and within the top five saw their chance vanished in the last two hours. They ended the race 15 laps down in ninth place.
Ferrari will be celebrating as they ended in first and third place. No. 47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari GT3 received the checkered flag with almost a 50 seconds lead over no. 32 Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3. Third place went to no. 21 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 10 seconds adrift.
Finally, AWA Racing was having a solid performance for their second outing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Realistically, if it was not for the brake problem they encounter, there would have been a chance to get on the podium. They ended the race in fourth place still; four laps down from third place Performance Tech Motorsports who were eight laps down.
Winner of the LMP3 class was no. 33 Sean Creech Motorsport and 48 seconds behind Jr III Racing finished second.
Unofficial Race result by class here.
Next race on the calendar is the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 8-10.
