Michelin Pilot Challenge – Robert Wickens/Mark Wilkins To Start Second In TCR At Sebring – Infinity Autosport 17th In GS

LATE QUALIFYING EFFORT GAVE WICKENS THE SECOND PLACE ON THE GRID LESS THAN A SECOND FORM SISTER CAR
Two practice sessions were held today in mix weather conditions for IMSA Michelin Pilot teams/drivers at Sebring International Raceway.
The 60 minutes morning session was hampered with rain showers and eventually the track dried out towards the end of the session.
Just before lunch, practice 2 took place under the sun and race teams ample time to prepare for the qualifying session that was interrupted with a red flag towards the end of the hour session.
TCS class was first out and Robert Wickens was at the wheel of the no. 33 Bryan Herta Autosport w/ Curb Agajanian Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Once shown in ninth place in the middle of the 15 minute qualifying session, Wickens then managed a late qualifying lap that put him only .071s from pole.
The top three qualifying positions went to Bryan Herta Autosport w/ Curb Agajanian. Pole position went to no. 77 T. Maxson / M. Filippi (2:14.446) followed by no. 33 R. Wickens / M. Wilkins (2:14.517) and no. 98 P. Chase / H. Gottsacker (2:14.602).
Of note, Karl Wittmer is competing with Victor Gonzalez Racing Team in a Honda Civic FK7 TCR and unfortunately has seen very little running today. They qualified last in TCR having not set a time.

In the GS class, Infinity Autosport with Sheena Monk and Kyle Marcelli qualified in 17th place with Sheena Monk in charge of qualifying the no. 3 Toyota Supra GT4.
