Another Podium for Simon Dion-Viens
GETTING MORE COMFORTABLE AND ENJOYING THE RIVALRY IN NASCAR PROCAM SUPERTRUCK
Simon Dion-Viens took part in last weekend’s NASCAR Procam Supertruck series as part of Autodrome Chaudière’s “summer vacation special”. At the wheel of the #37 truck in the colors of Castrol Canada and supported by Rivère-du-Loup Mitsubishi, Témis Chrysler, Rousseau Métal and Transport PLGB, Dion-Viens finished in second place after consistently showing speed throughout practice and qualifying race.
Indeed, the Kamouraska driver set the best time in the afternoon’s timed session and won in the qualifying race.
“We have shown once again that we can be quick with our truck. During the afternoon, I was very satisfied with the performance of my truck. The team members, as usual, did a great job of preparing the #37 truck and I want to thank them for their hard work,” Simon commented.
“In the evening race, as the track temperature had changed slightly, I had to deal with a truck that had a little more understeer than during the day. I was still able to fight from the outside lane for a good part of the race to keep my second position while staying in contact with the eventual race winner without however being able to fight for victory with him as I would have liked. We are still really satisfied with our weekend and will continue to improve even more the consistency of our truck,” continues Simon.
“I’m having a lot of fun fighting at the front with the other drivers in the series. A good rivalry sets in with the other teams and the battles we fight on-track are clean and most satisfying,” concluded Simon.
Note that the second race scheduled for last weekend was canceled due to the weather.
The next few weeks will be quite busy for the team as they prepare their return to Canada’s NASCAR Pinty’s Series for the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières on August 13-15.
In addition, they are in the final stages of preparation and testing of their NASCAR Pinty’s oval car for the double program at Autodrome Chaudière at the end of August.
Simon Dion-Viens would like to thank his main partners: Castrol Canada, Rivière-du-Loup Mitsubishi, Témis Chrysler, Rousseau Metal, PLGB Transport, Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, A.L Restauration, Auto Mobilité and Lettrage Yvan Robichaud
