ALBERTA NATIVE THOMPSON RELOCATES TO INDIANAPOLIS TO DRIVE FOR JDX RACING LOOKING FOR CONTINUOUS SUCCESS FROM THEIR 2019 ASSOCIATION IN PORSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE US
Parker Thompson has been dipping his toes in different categories over the last 3 seasons. Mainly focused on the Road to Indy program, he did venture into sports car racing in 2019 driving in both Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge US and Canada as well as the Canadian Touring Car Championship.
Thompson’s highlight was his first race win on a damped Mid-Ohio track where he drove away from the group. In his rookie season in the Canadian Cup Challenge, he finished runner-up to non other than Series Champion Roman De Angelis.
For 2021, Thompson is fully focused in competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America and Porsche Cars Canada as implication in it as well. Porsche Motorsport North America announced the new series with the launch of a brand-new Porsche 992 Cup race car with more horsepower, increased aero, and a new suspension design.
Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. (PCL) renews its engagement in supporting motorsport and young Canadian talent in the new North American-wide one-make series that is starting for the first time in 2021, with eight event rounds.
