The Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) confirms new GT4 class and agreement with SRO
2021 PROMISES TO BE A DISPUTED ONE ON THE CANADIAN SPORTSCAR RACING SCENE WITH THE LATEST ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM BOTH PARTIES INVOLVED
Amidst the latest announcements in recent weeks from the 2021 Sportscar Championship Canada to begin this Spring, CTCC confirmed today a surprised agreement with SRO Motorsports Group who runs the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS categories in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
The following is the latest media release from the series:
Shannonville (ON), February 12th, 2021 – Canada is the latest country to join the GT4 family as SRO Motorsports and RACE Events Inc. have signed an agreement that will bring the internationally recognized SRO system to CTCC. CTCC presented by Pirelli will add a separate and unique GT4 class which will complement its existing TCR and GT Sport categories.
Working with the SRO system, GT4 drivers, teams and manufacturers can rest assured that the competition will be intense but fair. CTCC’s team of experienced officials have already begun to examine the GT4 specifications to ensure the balance of performance (BoP) is maintained throughout the upcoming season. The GT4 homologated race cars will now be able to compete in Canada’s premiere sports car series.
Dominique Bondar, General Manager of CTCC commented: “We are honoured that Stéphane Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports, has chosen CTCC and entrusted its brand with us. Our relationship with SRO began years ago and today and now we are delighted to be part of the SRO community formally. This is fantastic news for CTCC and the development of motorsport in Canada.”
Where will this leave the other Championship that will also run very much the same type of cars, we will find out soon enough as further details from both sides will surely become available in a very near future.
