Pfaff Motorsports and SunEnergy1 Racing On The Lead Lap With 6 Hours To Go
STILL PLENTY OF RACING LEFT WITH SIX CARS ON THE SAME LAP IN GTD
Following a first part of the race where lots of full course caution neutralized the race, teams and drivers settled in their strategy late in the evening and in the early hours of the morning.
At the moment, leading the GTD class is The #57 Mercedes AMG GT3 of Maro Engel in the lead with about a two seconds lead over the #21 Ferrari 488 GT3 of Daniel Serra. Third is Trent Hindman with the #16 Porsche 911 GT3 R 28 seconds back.
Laurens Vanthoor is currently at the wheel of the Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R some 37 seconds behind the leader. Mikaël Grenier with SunEnergy1 Racing #75 Mercedes AMG GT3 sits in sixth place just over a minute behind Engel.
Roman De Angelis is at the wheel of #23 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 1 1/2 lap behind the leader. #28 Alegra Motorsports ran into some brake problem though the night and had lost 4 laps because of it. They have since regained one lap and sit in 11th place with three laps behind.
