Alegra Motorsports confirms GTD driver lineup and partnership with high-performance lubricants Nano Pro MT for Rolex 24 at Daytona

RETURNING 2017 GTD CLASS WINNER ALEGRA MOTORSPORTS RETURNS TO THE ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA AND A SWITCH TO MERCEDES AMG GT3 MACHINIERY

TAMPA, Florida, (January 11, 2021) – Alegra Motorsports is returning to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship to take on the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona with a four-driver lineup supported by title sponsor Nano Pro MT.

The announcement marks a reunion for Morad and De Quesada, who drove with team owner Carlos De Quesada, Michael Christensen and Jesse Lazare en route to victory in the 2017 edition of Daytona in the GTD class. Johnson is no stranger to the team either, having driven with Alegra for select races in the 2019 World Challenge Americas effort.

Morad and De Quesada will be joined by Billy Johnson (USA) and Mercedes-Benz works driver and 2016 Blancpain GT Series champion as well as 2013 24 Hours of Spa winner, Maxi Buhk (GER).

Daniel Morad is back with the team that gave him top honours in the 2017 Rolex 24: “I’m really happy to be back with Alegra Motorsports in the IMSA WeatherTech series. This will be the first time we’ve reunited the squad in the championship since we won the Rolex 24 in 2017. It’s a fresh look for us, as the team recently made a big switch to the AMG brand. This is something I am very much looking forward to.”

Michael de Quesada will be back for more this year after finishing 9th in GTD class last year with the AIM Vasser Sullivan squad: “I’m looking forward to getting back in the car with Daniel and the rest of the team. It was a surreal experience when we won the 24 Hours back in 2017, so hopefully we can do that again in 2021.”

Newcomer to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Maxi Buhk is looking forward to sharing the driving duties with his teammates: “It’s great to be supporting Alegra Motorsports and their new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3. There is a good amount of endurance racing and winning in this driver line up which will play a key role in this race.”

Billy Johnson is familiar with Alegra Motorsports having driven for the team in selected races in the 2019 World Challenge Americas: “I’m really excited to be driving for Alegra in the 24 Hours at Daytona. They are a great group of guys who know how to win this race. We have really strong team, driver lineup, and car that will be a contender in a competitive GTD field.”
