Mikaël Grenier second in Magny-Cours GT World Challenge Europe qualifying
GRENIER MISSES POLE BY A MERE 0.077S IN QUALIFYING FOR RACE 1 SCHEDULED AS A NIGHT RACE
Grenier had the task of qualifying Emil Frey Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo for Q1. In a very competitive qualifying session where the top of the running order changed lap after lap, Grenier was continuously in position to fight for pole.
With less than 2 minutes left, the top six including Grenier were within 0.075s. In a last effort, Mikaël crossed the line with a lap time of 1:36.191. Coming very close to beat eventual pole sitter Luca Stolz driving HRT’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 with his lap of 1:36.114.
They were followed by Silver Cup driver Steven Palette in the Sainteloc Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 0.296s behind, Tommaso Mosca in Attempto Racing’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 fourth and Silver driver Ezequiel Perez Companc in Madpanda Motorsport’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 rounding up the top 5.
The second Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini with Giacomo Altoe at the wheel ended up 11th 0.536 behind the pole time.
Race 1 will get underway this evening at 10:15pm local time (CET) or 4:15 pm Eastern time here in Canada. This being a sprint race, it is scheduled for 60 minutes.
