Jeff Kingsley wins Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge US race at Road America
KELLY-MOSS ROAD AND RACE KINGSLEY SURVIVED A LAST LAP RESTART AND CROSSED THE LINE EIGHT TENTHS AHEAD OF RILEY DICKINSON
Jeff Kingsley had qualified on pole for this 45 minutes race and keeping his composure, led a flag to flag race that was only interrupted by two full course yellow, the second one within theist 10 minutes of the race.
The first full course happened early on in the race. Upon the restart, Kingsley pulled away to maintain about a three second gap to Moorespeed driver Dickinson.
Third place Alan Metni, who runs in the Master class, kept pressure on Dickinson staying within two seconds behind.
The last of the two safety car period happened within 10 minutes to go in the race and by the time they removed the car there was just enough time to run one more green lap. This made it for a dash to the finish. Kingsley was well prepared for the restart and was able to pull away from Dickinson as the field drive by the start line.
This gave enough breathing room for Kingsley to cross the line in first place by .857 second ahead of Riley Dickinson and 2.156 seconds ahead of Alan Metni.
The second race of the weekend will take place Sunday at 9am.
