Mikaël Grenier and Emil Frey Racing to start 25th in GT World Challenge Europe Imola Sunday race
26 OUT OF A FIELD OF 46 CARS WITHIN A SECOND IN QUALIFYING FOR THE FIRST RACE OF THE SEASON
Canadian Mikaël Grenier is at the wheel of #14 Emil Frey Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO this weekend at the 4.909km Imola circuit.
This first race is to be a 3-hour race that counts for the Endurance Cup standings. For this, Mikaël and regular teammate Norbert Seidler are joined by Swiss driver Ricardo Feller.
Grenier took part in the third qualifying group and set a time of 1:42.334. Combined with his teammates’ time (Feller 1:42.765 and Siedler 1:43.131) the #14 qualified 25th .944s from pole sitter Attempto Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Mattia Drudi/Kim Luis Schramm/Frederic Vervisch (1:41.799).
The pole sitter were followed by #51 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 of James Calado/Niklas Nielson/Alessandro Pier Guidi in second and #88 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Timur Boguslavskiy/Felipe Fraga/Raffaele Marciello.
The sister car at Emil Frey Racing #163 of Giacomo Altoè/Albert Costa/Franck Perera will start in 12th place .332s behind the pole position time.
The 3-hour race will get underway Sunday 1:30pm local time 7:30am Eastern time.
