Pipo Derani takes pole for Whelen Engineering Racing in DPi; Bruno Spengler 6th in GTLM
STRONG SHOWING FROM DERANI AS THE WHELEN ENGINEERING CONFIRMS ITS PACE FROM THIS MORNING PRACTICE
The starting grid is set for the 2h40 minutes Cadillac Grand Prix of Sebring race scheduled for a 5:35pm start.
Pipo Derani had set the fastest lap in this morning second practice session and he was back behind the wheel for the 15 minutes qualifying session. Derani registered a 1:46.733 in the #31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi which was .216 second quicker than the #6 Team Penske Acura of Juan Pablo Montoya(1:46.949). Third place wen to Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi with a time set by Rager van der Zande of 1:47.110.

In the 15 minutes qualifying session for the GTLM class, it was Chevrolet Corvette team’s turn to place both of their cars in the front row led by the #3 driven by Jordan Taylor(1:55.634) who was .381 second ahead of Oliver Gavin(1:56.381) in the #4 Corvette.
The two Porsche 911 RSR followed in third and fourth as Frederic Makowiecki(1:56.079) in the #911 and Laurens Vanthoor (1:56.398). Followed the Rahal Letterman Lanigan LLC BMW M8 GTE. Bruno Spengler ended its qualifying session sixth(1:56.909) with a time 1.275 seconds behind the pole sitting Corvette.
As reported in the previous post, AIM VASSER SULLIVAN took pole in the GTD class.
