Canadian team TWOth Autosport to race IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Daytona
TEAM CURRENTLY COMPETING IN CANADIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP(CTCC) TO ENTER AN AUDI RS3 TCR WITH THE SUPPORT OF AUDI CANADA FOR THE BMW ENDURANCE CHALLENGE AT DAYTONA FOR THE IMSA MICHELIN PILOT CHALLENGE – 4 HOURS
During the Roar, we caught a glimpse of an Audi RS3 hidding in the garages away from the competitors. The car’s livery being the same as the WRT Speedstar Audi Sport R8 LMS GTD that is supported by Audi Canada and with Daniel Morad as one of its drivers.
Not being able to take part in the action as this RS3 was not homologated to race in IMSA, this car being the one they race with in CTCC and the actual race car being in final preparation at the team’s shop at Calabogie Motorsport Park just outside Ottawa, Ontario, the presence of the car was simply to take some photography shots.
The team had attended a prior IMSA sanctioned race late last season with the homologated RS3 TCR that confirmed their entry for the first round on Jan 24th.
It was later confirmed by the team they are to enter a limited program with an Audi RS3 seen last year with Marco Cirone who had taken part in a handful of races with then co-driver Remo Ruscitti in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
The car is to be run in a collaboration between TWOth Autosport personnel and BestLine Auto Tech. BestLine Auto Tech is well know in the Porsche GT3 Challenge Canada as they have been preparing the Porsche GT3 of Mark Motors Racing team for the last five season.
The support of Audi Canada is said to be only for the Daytona round for the moment. Shopify, Canadian multinational e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario can be seen as a partner on their car as well.
The drivers for the first race are to be Travis Hill (co-owner of TWOth Autosport) and Ron Tomlinson (long time driver with TWOth). It is said Marco Cirone, who was not available for the first race will take his seat back with Travis Hill at their following race which should be Sebring in March.
Travis Hill, on top of being co-owner of TWOth Autosport, also is the lead instructor at Calabogie Motorsports Park, a Porsche driving instructor as well as driving in the Canadian Touring Car Championship(CTCC). He completed the 2019 season in third place.
Ron Tomlinson is a current driver in CTCC driving an Audi RS3 TCR with TWOth Autosport where he finished fifth in 2019.
The BMW Endurance Challenge at Daytona for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge – 4 hours is scheduled for a first practice session on Wednesday January 22 with the race on Friday 24th at 1pm.
