Audi Canada back for more at Rolex24 at Daytona with Canadian Daniel Morad as one of the drivers
PLACED THIRD AT 2019 ROLEX24 IN GTD CLASS WITH WRT SPEEDSTAR AND ARE TO FIELD FOUR TOP DRIVERS
In 2019, Audi Canada through its Audi Sport banner showed up at the Roar before the Rolex 24 with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 prepared by a cooperation between Belgian team WRT (W-Racing Team) and Toronto based Speedstar Motorsport.
The team and drivers kept it together through the entire race amidst extremely bad weather to finish on the podium with a third place.
They are back with greater ambitions for the 2020 Rolex24 as they have confirmed their participation with the #88 Audi R8 LMS GT3 entered in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD category under the colours of “WRT Speedstar Audi Sport” and with the support of Audi Canada.
The final livery of the car is to be decided by race fans through Audi Canada social media accounts. Fans have until December 23rd to vote on their favourite of two proposed liveries.
On the drivers’ side, newly signed Audi Sport driver Mirko Bortolotti and also Audi Sport driver Dries Vanthoor will be sharing the #88 Audi R8 LMS GT3 with Switzerland’s Rolf Ineichen and Daniel Morad.

Mirko Bortolotti, Rolf Ineichen, Dries Vanthoor and Daniel Morad
Bortolotti and Rolf Ineichen, as teammates, are familiar with the top step of the podium at Daytona having won the 2018 and 2019 GTD class and even topped it off with a win at the 12hours of Sebring in 2019. Vanthoor is accustomed to long distance racing having one namely the GTE-Am class 24h Le Mans in 2017 and won the 2018 12h Bathurst as well as the 2019 24h Nürburgring at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS.
As for Daniel Morad, it was in 2017 that he won the Rolex24 at Daytona also in the GTD class. Daniel competed in a limited program this past season in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar driving the Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Montaplast by Land Motorsport. One of the outings being at the Rolex24.
Definitely another great line-up of drivers and car that will compete in what is to be a very high calibre GTD Class.
And with this, WRT Speedstar Audi Sport with the support of Audi Canada joins AIM VASSER SULLIVAN and Pfaff Motorsports in showcasing the Canadian flag for the Rolex24 at Daytona comes January 25th 2020.
