Canadian Devlin DeFrancesco to compete in 2019/20 F3 Asian Championship
FOLLOWING HIS FIA FORMULA 3 SEASON WITH TRIDENT MOTORSPORT, DEFRANCESCO IS TO KEEP ACTIVE OVER THE WINTER MONTHS
Looking to get his year off to a flying start, Devlin DeFrancesco is proud to announce that he’ll be joining Absolute Racing to compete in the 2019/20 F3 Asian Championship certified by FIA.
After a promising 2019 FIA Formula 3 campaign, Devlin will be looking to continue his upwards trajectory as he tackles Asia for the first time. Entering its third season, the Asian F3 Championship visits Asia & Middle East’s most premier circuits from Sepang in Malaysia, to Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, as well as to the Buriram International Circuit in Thailand and the Dubai Autodrome.
Contested over 5 rounds spread starting in December and ending in February the series offers the perfect opportunity to stay race-sharp throughout the winter months. With a jam-packed schedule, Devlin will be competing in 3 races a weekend on top of 2 qualifying sessions and free practice session.
Since its launch in 2010, Absolute Racing has become one of the most respected names in Asian Motorsport. Competing with success in a wide variety of series and championships, including Asian Le Mans Series, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and the Blancpain GT Series Asia, to name but a few.
Last year it expanded it’s horizons to the newly created F3 Asian Championship certified by the FIA, taking part in it’s inaugural season securing several race wins.
The team has become one of the most recognisable names on the Asian motorsport scene, owing to it’s on-track success and an off-track reputation for reliability and credibility.
Looking forward to welcoming the nineteen year old to the team Team Manager Martin Young commented:
“I’m really pleased to have Devlin join us. He has a lot of experience in F3 machinery, and whilst he will have to adapt to this car after coming from International Formula 3, I am confident that with testing he’ll be straight on the pace.”
Excited for his latest challenge Devlin added:
“I’m really looking forward to the F3 Asian Championship, Absolute Racing are a good team, they had a good season last year so I’m looking forward to going there and seeing what we can do. It’ll be fun to try out some new tracks as well.
It’s a great championship and I’m excited to get back in a car again, the end of the season seems like an age ago now! I feel like I’ve progressed a lot this year, so this is the perfect opportunity to show what I’ve learned. Can’t wait to get going!’”
With the first round taking place in a little over 2 weeks (December 12-14th) at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia the young Canadian-Italian will be looking to end 2019 on a high.
