R. Ferri Motorsport sweeps Blancpain GT World Challenge at Watkins Glen
TWO WINS FOR THE TORONTO TEAM WITH DRIVERS TONI VILANDER AND DANIEL SERRA; 2 FOURTH PLACE FINISH FOR SCOTT HARGROVE
Watkins Glen International hosted the Blancpain GT World Challenge America this past weekend and several Canadians were on track for this event.
Two races were scheduled with one Saturday and the second one Sunday. Qualifying for race 1 saw R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488GT3 qualify in second place only .204s from pole sitter K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 of Alvaro Parente and Andy Soucek. Daniel Morad and new teammate Billy Johnson driving the Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 ended qualifying in fifth place. Scott Hargrove (w/Patrick Long) driving for Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R took sixth place while Kyle Marcelii and Martin Barkey were ninth overall for Racers Edge MotorsportsAcura NSX(third in Pro-Am).
Race 1 ended with the duo of Daniel Serra and Toni Vilander taking R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 to the winner’s circle finishing 2.860s ahead of the K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 #9 (Parente/Soucek) and 8.397s ahead of K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 #3 (Baptista/Soulet) as Scott Hargrove/Patrick Long ended in fourth place and Daniel Morad/Billy Johnson finished one lap behind in ninth place.
Kyle Marcelli/Martin Barkey came in third in the ProAm class.
Second qualifying sae R. Ferri Motorsport take pole over K-PAX Racing (Baptista/Soulet) by .291s. Third place went to ProAm of DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 drivers David Askew, Ryan Dalziel. Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX of Kyle Marcelli/Martin Barkey were fifth, Scott Hargrove/Patrick Long eight and Daniel Morad, Billy Johnson’s Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R qualified in 12th.
Race 2 had the same four cars of race 1 finishing in the same order with R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 taking the honours with the two K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 following closely behind.
Scott Hargrove/Patrick Long finished in fourth place only two seconds away from third place. Alegra Motorsport squad of Daniel Morad/Billy Johnson came in sixth place.
Kyle Marcelli/Martin Barkey bettered their result by one place finishing second in the ProAm class for Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX.
