FIA F3: Devlin DeFrancesco on track at Silverstone this weekend
COMING OFF A BEST RESULT SO FAR THIS SEASON IN AUSTRIA A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO
This weekend FIA F3 travels to the spiritual home of racing in Britain – Silverstone. The 5.9km circuit is a favourite for drivers from all categories, with high speed and challenging corner complexes making it one of the most exciting races on the calendar.
Devlin has enjoyed some of his most successful weekends at the circuit over the years, including a double podium during his hugely impressive 2017 EuroFormula Open campaign in which he finished third overall.
With this in mind, coupled with his impressive ninth place finish last weekend at the Red Bull Ring, Devlin is feeling optimistic and excited about the upcoming races. His progress has been on an upward trajectory after a tricky opening round of the season, and he is hoping that he will now be able to add points to his strong race performances.
“We’ve made lots of progress since the start of the year, I think we are around where we should be, around the top ten – that’s our area for the moment,” said DeFrancesco.
With thirty young hopefuls racing every weekend, Devlin knows that he has to be on top of his game if he wants to be mixing it in the point paying positions. With his qualifying results improving week by week and his race pace showing that he has the potential for the top ten, there are plenty of reasons for the young Canadian-Italian driver to feel positive about the season.
“I’m looking forward to Silverstone. Generally, it’s been a happy hunting ground for me, I quite enjoy it. It’s really fast, quite technical as well. I’m looking forward to it and feel positive about it all. Going to head in with level expectations and then let’s see what we can squeeze out. I’m looking forward to it,” DeFrancesco added.
The free practice session is set for Friday morning 8:35 local time with qualifying at 4:50pm.
Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday 9:25am and Race 2 for Sunday 8:35am.
