Busy and successful month of June for Parker Thompson
HAVING RACED IN PORSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE USA, CTCC, PORSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE CANADA AND INDY PRO 2000
Thompson’s racing program for the season has became quite busy for the Alberta native.
Initially racing in the Indy Pro 2000 Series and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, Parker was a late entry into the Canadian Porsche GT3 Cup Championship for the first round at CTMP in May. That weekend saw him compete in the Canadian Touring Car Championship(CTCC) at the wheel of an Audi R8.
Achieving success with race wins and podiums finishes, in all, Parker had one more weekend of racing to end his month of June.
The Indy Pro 2000 Championship round 6 and 7 took place at Road America this past weekend and Parker started things off with qualifying on pole for Race 1 and fourth for Race 2.
Finishing in third place in each race was a welcome result for Thompson: “It is great to get on the podium here in Road America. Given some of my recent results in this series, a strong showing here was important to staying competitive in this tight 2019 Championship. Wisconsin, and Road America, is also the closest thing that I have to a home outside of Canada. We’ve got a great group of fans and supporters here to cheer us on. We are so happy to be able to pull this result together and celebrate with them all.”
Indeed, this keeps Parker in the heart of the battle for the championship. Currently occupying second place behind championship leader Rasmus Lindh and with nine races to go, all is possible.
Next outing for Parker Thompson is this coming weekend at Watkins Glen driving for JDX Racing in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA.
