Parker Thompson latest addition to Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada
A WELCOME ADDITION TO CANADIAN SERIES THAT WILL RAISE THE COMPETITION LEVEL EVEN MORE
The 21-year old Albertan who drives in the Indy Pro 2000 Series also competes in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA. In a last minute deal before the first race of the US series, Thompson has impressed in his debut in GT racing.
He will join SportCar Boutique running in the Platinum Cup class. The first race of the season is held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend as part of the Castrol Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend.
It is a great steal for SportCar Boutique with Thompson joining the team. In race 1 at Mid-Ohio driving in damp conditions, Parker Thompson showed great skills driving away from the pack and winning the race. Parker currently stands second in the US Championship. He will surely be a tough challenger to Roman De Angelis.
“In my limited experience with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, I’ve come to really appreciate both the race car and the competitors in the series. I’m looking forward to joining the team at SportsCarBoutique”, Thompson said. “Many thanks to team principal Ilker Starck for making this opportunity possible. I intend to work hard and continue the success that I’ve had in this series south of the border.”
Now in its 9th season of competition, SportsCarBoutique has a clear goal in mind: winning the 2019 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Championship! Over the past seasons, SportsCarBoutique has coached and introduced young Canadian talents to the series, and is proud to work with Parker Thompson
“We love the sport, the series and most of all these Porsche Cup cars. Over the past few years we have established ourselves as a team that introduces and supports talented young race car drivers.”
