Acura wins Mid-Ohio with Montoya and Cameron
AIM VASSER SULLIVAN TAKES THE WIN IN GTD. PORSCHE TAKES THE HONORS IN GTLM
The morning was cold with a mere 8 degrees Celsius for the WeatherTech team on their warm-up session. But as the green flag approached, the sun started making its way through the clouds to the joy of the fans that showed up in good numbers for the race.
The race started on a high pace with good battles amongst the 4 class. Very little full course yellow made this sprint race exciting for the fans.

At the end, Juan Pablo Montoya brought the no. 6 Acura Team Penske to the checkered flag just over two seconds before the no. 77 Mazda Team Joest and 30 seconds over the sister car no. 55 Mazda Team Joest.
This was the first victory for Montoya with the Penske Acura program and during the press conference when asked how it felt to finally win one, Montoya put it simply: “If you would have told me a year ago it would take over one year to get the win, I would have said no way!”
The GTLM class, both Porsche made it to the podium although split by Corvette Racing. The no. 912 Porsche Team of drivers Earl Bamber/Ludovic Vanthoor took the win over the no. 3 Corvette Racing of Jan Magnussen/Anthony Garcia by just over two seconds and third went to Patrick Pilet/Nick Tandy in the no. 911 Porsche Team 1.5s behind the Corvette.
In its third race with the Lexus program, AIM Vasser Sullivan stole the win with just 0.598s over the no. 86 Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb-Agajanian Acura NSX of Mario Farnbacher/Trent Hindman one lap behind
Unfortunately for Pfaff Motorsport, who were running in third for a while, they were not running at the checkered flag. The same fate happened to Compass Racing in their first outing with the McLaren 720S GT3. More to come from Pfaff on another post.
