Wet qualifying for Michelin Challenge at Mid-Ohio
IN GS CLASS MIA/JESSE LAZARE TO START SECOND; COMPASS RACING/KUNO WITTMER FIFTH; AWA/SCOTT HARGROVE & OREY FIDANI EIGHT
The third and final practice for Michelin Challenge took place this morning under dry conditions but then Mother Nature mixed conditions up as fig and a light drizzle came over the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for qualifying.
Following a short break after practice, qualifying started with the TCR class. The track kept changing in the first laps with the drizzle. It was a matter of making it count on the first couple of laps to get a good time.
Pole went to Chad Gilsinger and Ryan Eversely in their HART Honda Civic TCR. James Vance/Nick Galante in their Audi RS3 LMS qualified fourth. The Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster N TCR of Mark Wilkins and teammate Michael Lewis qualified in sixth and the Mark Motors Audi RS3 LMS of Marco Cirone/Remo Ruscitti are to start 12th.






In the GS class, it was a wet track for all and pole went to the eEuroparts.com ROWE Racing Audi R8 with Motorsport In Action McLaren GT4 of Jesse Lazare/Corey Fergus in second. Compass Racing McLaren drivers Kuno Wittmer qualified in fifth. Orey Fidani/Scott Hargrove in the AWA Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport had the eight best time. Korh Motorsport Ford Mustang of Kyle Marcelli/Nate Stacey will start in 10th in the no.60 and the no. 59 of Kenny Wilden/Rod Randall in 14th.
The two hour race is scheduled to start at 1:45 this afternoon and can be seen on IMSA.tv.
