VIR Blancpain GT World Challenge America: Canadian drivers and teams to compete
4 DRIVERS AND 1 TEAM ON TRACK THIS WEEKEND AMONGST 17 GT3 ENTRIES FOR ROUNDS 3 AND 4
If the first round at Circuit of the Americas was anything to go by, it promises to be another great event for the Blancpain GT World Series at Virginia International Raceway.
5 Porsche 911 GT3 R, 4 Ferrari 488 GT3, 3 Acura NSX GT3, 2 Bentley Continental GT3, 2 Mercedes-AMG GT3, 1 BMW F13 M6 GT3 divided amongst the PRO, PRO-AM and AM categories have confirmed their presence.

Driving the Allegra Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R, Daniel Morad(celebrating his 29th birthday this week) and co-driver Michael De Quesada(USA) have completed testing last week in preparation to this weekend.
Scott Hargrove, who will partner the Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R with Patrick Long(USA) talks about VIR: “Virginia International Raceway is always a highlight as it has some sections that really test the driver. Turn 10, the fast left hander at the top of the esses, is one of those corners. You push the car to its limit, edging right out to the grass on exit with no room for error. The track layout is one that may be difficult for us to compete at the front on raw speed, but the Wright Motorsports crew showed they are great in the pits and our Porsche shines over a long run. Patrick and the team have been fantastic to work with and I know we’re all eager to improve on our two third place finishes from COTA!”
Martin Barkey and Kyle Marceli will share driving duties in Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX.
On the team side R. Ferri Motorsport(Ferrari of Ontario, Toronto, Alberta) will have their Ferrari 488 GT3 driven by Spaniard Miguel Molina and Finlander Toni Vilander ready to repeat their win at COTA. They are currently sitting in second place in the standings.
The weekend schedule had two 60 minutes practice session on Friday with qualifying taking place Saturday morning. It is followed by Race 1 Saturday afternoon and Race 2 Sunday afternoon.
