IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge: Kuno Wittmer and Compass Racing testing at Mid-Ohio
SCHEDULED TEST TO GET READY FOR NEXT RACE FOLLOWING A DIFFICULT TIME AT SEBRING HAVING TO DEAL WITH ELECTRONIC ISSUES THROUGHOUT THE RACE
Kuno Wittmer traveled to the Mid Ohio Sportscar Complex for a couple of test days at the wheel of the McLaren 570S GT4 with teammate Paul Holton.
We asked Kuno if the team had identified the problem they encountered following the Sebring Race. “McLaren is currently investigating the issues from Sebring as it was a mechanical failure”.
We then asked if the McLaren will still run the same BOP from Sebring? “As of now, yes. But it could change in the coming weeks.”
How would Kuno characterize the Mid-Ohio circuit? “Mid-Ohio is a great circuit. OI believe the car and team will be good at this track. It’s a mix of everything and no circuit like it on the calendar.”
At the same time, Compass Racing is testing the newly arrived 720S GT3 for the first time. It is scheduled to race in IMSA WeatheTech GTD class for the sprint races and Mid-Ohio is the first one they will participate in. It is to be driven by Paul Holton and Matt Plumb.
We asked Kuno if he had a chance to drive the GT3? “Sadly not!” Kuno replied. Well the season is still young!
The Acura Sportscar Challenge at Mid-Ohio weekend is scheduled on May 3-5.
