Scott Hargrove to drive Porsche GT3 in Blancpain GT World Challenge America
2019 PORSCHE SELECTED DRIVER HARGROVE TO TEAM UP WITH PORSCHE FACTORY PATRICK LONG
Scott Hargrove just announced on his social media he has come to an agreement with the Wright Motorsports Team for the upcoming 2019 season.
Wright Motorsport also released the information on their website. They have entered two new Porsche GT3 R. One will compete in the Pro-class with drivers Hargrove and Long. The second car is to be entered in the Pro/Am-class with Anthony Imperato, Matt Campbell and Romain Dumas named as drivers.
Patrick Long is returning to the Series for the first time since winning the championship in 2017 and is to compete for a fourth year with the team.

“Continuity in motorsport is something a driver can only hope for”, said Long. “I am honored to add a fourth chapter to my story with Wright Motorsports and to be back with a team that has the talent and focus to win. GT3 racing in today’s landscape is ultra-close and that requires you to squeeze every hundredth of a second out of yourself. It tests your communication and trust as a group, so that’s where I find comfort in building on what we’ve worked on together for the last three seasons.”
“Scott will make a great addition to the effort. He’s a proven winner in all categories he’s been in and has been very exciting to watch”, Long continued. “It will also be fun to rejoin SRO America and see how it’s evolved after a season away. The way you attack these races is very unique, so getting back into that groove will be priority for me personally.”
It has been a couple of successful years for 23 years old Hargrove. As a rookie, Scott won the Blancpain GT World Challenge America in 2018. And the previous year, had won the IMSA Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup here in Canada. Both championship won with Pfaff Motorsports. Porsche has recruited him to be part of the 2019 Porsche Selected drivers. As we know, Scott is continuing his association with Pfaff Motorsports in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the GTD-class this year and has just competed in the Rolex 24. Needless to say, Hargrove is looking at maximizing his opportunity especially driving with Patrick Long.
“Joining Wright Motorsports in 2019 is an unexpected, but very exciting development”, said Hargrove. “I’ve been a fan of Patrick Long for a long time and watched him race growing up. It’s an honor for me to now be teammates with him and to join Wright Motorsports, with all of the experience they have. They’ve proven time and time again that they’re a team to beat and I have no doubt that we’re going to be a strong package. Like Patrick, I was fortunate to have gotten a taste of the new Porsche 911 GT3 R this month. The car feels phenomenal and I’m eager to develop on what is already a very strong platform.”
The first round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America will take place on March 2-3 at Circuit of the Americas.
