Aaron Povoledo to start fourth in tomorrow’s IMSA Prototype Challenge 3-hour race at Daytona International Speedway
IMSA Prototype Challenge is off to a good start with 19 entries for the first race.
The teams had two sessions today to prepare for a late afternoon qualifying session to determine the starting grid for tomorrow’s 3 hour race.
Sharing the driving duties with co-driver Ross Chouet, the car ended the first session in eight place. Followed by a 15th place in the second practice.
Qualifying duties were given to Aaron and has Conquest Racing was getting the car ready, the sky opened up and literally soaked the track with a torrential downpour.
When the 15-minute qualifying session started, some teams opted not to go out but for those who did, the track condition kept changing lap after lap.
Aaron took full advantage of the track condition and finished in fourth place.
Asked about the result, Aaron was slightly disappointed. “Lap after lap, I was catching the guy in front. I am disappointed because I know I would have beaten his time. And also for the team. The crew gave me a great Westport Yachts Ligier LMP3 by Conquest Racing to drive in these conditions. They deserved a better result”.
Make sure to tune in to IMSA.TV Saturday at noon for the 3-hour race.
